Brewers home opener will feature t-shirts, tributes, food trucks and more

Milwaukee Brewers

Since we’re now into March, it’s accurate to say we can look forward to the Milwaukee Brewers home opener later this month. On Monday, the team shared more details about their plans for the season kickoff, which welcomes the Kansas City Royals to town for a 1:10 p.m. first pitch Monday, March 31.

Hovering over the game — and probably every game this year — is the physical absence of Bob Uecker for the first time since 1971. His presence will still be felt, however, via a variety of reminders that Mr. Baseball will always be a part of the franchise. His signature will appear across the outfield grass, the stadium will recognize a moment of silence, and we’ll see the Uecker jersey patch on the sleeves of Brewers on-field personnel.

Before fans get through the gates, they’ll be greeted with a pre-game party near the pedestrian bridge featuring a photo booth, appearances by Brewers mascots, drumline performances by Ronald Reagan and South Division high schools, and dance numbers by the Milwaukee Dancing Grannies. DJ King James and DJ Rick Jules will also spin near the bridge and the clock tower, while the 5 Card Studs will play at the Miller Lite Landing and DJ EJ will handle in-game entertainment.

There are a couple giveaways lined up, the first of which is a 2025 magnetic schedule presented by Palermo’s Pizza that goes to all fans. Those in the Terrace Level get an extra opportunity to pick up a Jackson Chourio t-shirt by purchasing one of 5,000 special ticket packages available now on the Brewers website.

Prior to first pitch, Milwaukee singer-songwriter Alison Mahal will do the honors for the National Anthem with an assist from Valkyrie, a bald eagle from the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. Then, throughout the game, fans will get a chance to check out the new amenities at the stadium this season, including The Alley food-truck park featuring local vendors and a new bar that will serve as another gathering space outside the seating bowl.

All of that is, of course, in addition to whatever you get up to in the parking lot prior to the game. For what it’s worth, AccuWeather has March 31 as a high of 45 degrees with “variable cloudiness” and “a couple of showers in the afternoon" — so, plan accordingly.
