If these last couple days haven’t given you a hankering for sitting outside with a friend or two while tipping back a cool beverage, I’m not entirely sure you’re living in the right city. As if to confirm that, Milwaukee County Parks on Thursday announced a new seasonal beer garden that should vault to the top of everyone’s must-visit list based on the view alone.

Located at 900 N. Prospect Ave., the Juneau Park Beer Garden will celebrate its first day in operation at 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring live music and a keg tapping. That keg — and many others — will supply the garden’s 12 draft beer lines, which will be supplemented by non-alcoholic beverage options for any teetotalers and tikes that want to enjoy the views of downtown and the lakefront.

"Parks could not be happier to add another beer garden to our wonderful summer in Milwaukee,” said Milwaukee County Parks executive director Guy Smith. “Due to the popularity of Juneau as a Traveling Beer Garden stop and the engaging community around it, we are excited to offer another location for folks to enjoy this summer."

The offerings won’t just be of the liquid variety, either. Brats, sausages, hot dogs and soft pretzels from Milwaukee Pretzel Company will be available during all operating hours, along with a rotating selection of food trucks Friday nights and all-day Saturday. Live music will also be part of the Friday-and-Saturday programming, sponsored by Third Space Brewing.

"We have put together an awesome lineup of local live music that is sure to pair perfectly with the great local craft beers on tap at the new Juneau Park Beer Garden,” Third Space co-founder and president Andy Gehl said. “We look forward to helping make the county's newest beer garden an amazing new third space for the people of Milwaukee."

There’s a lot of space to go around, too, with seating for more than 250 people. You can fill one of those seats between 4 and 9 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, as well as holidays.
