April 16 is the first-ever Public Radio Music Day

Together with our public radio station friends across the country, we're celebrating the first ever Public Radio Music Day this Thursday, April 16!

We're flipping our programming around to fit every single speciality program that airs throughout the week in 18 hours. Check out the schedule below.

Throughout the day, we'll air four packages of Studio Milwaukee: From the Vault, each with a different genre theme. Dori Zori will expand her 7:10 a.m. Musical Bacon segment to a full hour of songs that have been sizzling around in her head. Our Friday and Saturday evening segments Rhythm Lab Radio and In the Mix will play while the sun's out to share the real urban sound and house music with our listeners. Sound Travels will play a special Thursday evening set.

And the day wouldn't be complete without the stories alongside the music. Our long-form podcast Backspin will take over an hour of the Afternoon Drive and Community Stories will produce an hour-long special during the end of Nate's evening shift.

Of course, you know we have to let you get in on the fun. So at 6 p.m., we're hosting a City Sing Along to Violent Femmes' "Blister in the Sun." Tune in, sing your heart out and share your videos with us using #MKESingAlong.

Special thanks to the noncomMUSIC Alliance for leading the charge on this inaugural celebration.
