Every week, Kristopher Pollard from Milwaukee Film and Radio Milwaukee’s Dori Zori talk about movies — because that’s what you do when you’re Cinebuds.

It’s a Cinebuds “very special guest” episode!!!

Actually, we’ve done this particular kind of very special guest so many times (and by that we mean more than once) that it has officially become a series we creatively titled: Our Musician Series — because it’s a series, and we talk to musicians. We’re not exactly doing rocket science here, people.

Two people who do something much closer to rocket science are Will and Kevin Bush, who you might know better as Immortal Girlfriend or, as some like to call them, the Dark Knights of Synth.

The Bush brothers are the perfect guests for this series for many reasons, which they helpfully summarize on the band’s official website by defining their sound as “a blend of synths, cinema, nostalgia and long car rides at night.” When you put the word “cinema” in a description of your music, it’s simply a matter of time before you end up on this podcast.

And what wonderful guests they are. As was the case with our previous Musician Series episodes, this installment contains equal helpings of movies and music. In cinematic terms, you get to hear about Immortal Girlfriend’s origin story, their mad scientist moment and the meet-cute that led to their latest video/short film — the wrestling-themed “Calling.”

There’s also plenty of talk about how their love of film began (thank you, Chuck Norris and Jean-Claude Van Damme), the power of a good soundtrack and the lasting impact of Batman Beyond. Listen to it all, plus one of Kpolly’s patented “movie questions lightning round,” using the player at the top of this page or wherever you get your podcasts.
